How to Extract Stock Recovery from Samsung Stock ROM

What do you need?
If you want to extract the stock recovery files from any Samsung stock firmware, you have to use the following tools and drivers on your computer.
- Download and install any unzip software like 7-Zip or WinRAR on your computer.
- Download the model-specific stock firmware for your Samsung Galaxy device. If you want to extract recovery files from Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus firmware, you have to download Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus SM-G532F Stock Firmware.
- Download and install the Samsung USB Driver to connect the Windows PC to Samsung device. Alternatively, you can use Samsung PC Suite.
- Download and install Samsung Odin for flashing the stock recovery files.
After downloading and installing all the above tools and drivers, follow the steps below to extract recovery files from the stock ROM.
Step 1: Download the stock firmware for your Samsung Galaxy smartphone and save it on your Windows PC.
Step 2: Now, extract the content from the firmware using unzip software to get the folder.
Step 3: Find the .tar.md5 firmware file under the extracted firmware folder and right-click on it.
Step 4: Now, open the .tar.md5 firmware file using the 7-Zip software you have installed.
Step 5: Then, you will find the ‘recovery. IMG file amongst other files. This is the stock recovery file for your Samsung device. Please select it and click on the extract button.
Step 6: You will now have the recovery.img file in your PC.
Step 7: Now, compress the recovery.img file using 7-Zip into “.tar” format.
You now have your stock recovery for your Samsung phone extracted and saved in an Odin flashable format (.tar).
However, if you would like to flash the recovery.tar file to your Samsung device later, you can comfortably use Odin and load it via the ‘AP’ or ‘PDA’ button in Odin.
